Be part of the Solar Generation 2010

Following the exciting news of the Feed In Tariff there has been uncertainty as to the eligibility of projects that have received the LCBP Phase2 grant. The Government have now issued advice on the matter which can be downloaded here.

Cornwall Council has applied for 50% grant funding for Solar PV panels to be installed on 50 schools throughout Cornwall through the Low Carbon Building Programme PHASE2 (LCBP), which has been approved. Additional funding has been sought from numerous other sources which has not been successful, hence to enable the installations to proceed Cornwall Council have agreed to offer the schools a low interest loan.  Schools will be able to repay the loans from money saved, which will save a substantial amount of money over the 25 year guaranteed life of the solar panels.

As well as saving money and Carbon Dioxide emissions the SOLAR PV installations offer a perfect opportunity to educate and empower the young people in schools about sustainable energy.  A comprehensive multi-media package is being developed to achieve this in partnership with numerous organisations including The Eden Project.  Each school will be supported to develop their own Sustainable Energy Education strategy.  This will have a direct impact on current and future generations.  Interactive workshops and assemblies will be held within each school.  The outreach and community events will impact upon the whole community.
