Combined Universities Cornwall - Tremough Campus
|Roof type||Flat roof|
The Penryn campus gets a solar make-over with a top of the range installation from Plug Into The Sun.
Not long since it was revealed the combined university had won £30 million of funding to build a climate research institute, bosses are practising what they may well be preaching in the future - make your energy consumption sustainable!
The team designed a large 8.82kWp system which will generate electricity from the sun. In suitable conditions that will mean enough free power for students to use 100 computers at once. Roughly 4 tonnes of carbon dioxide will be offset every year.
To increase the learning potential of going solar, Plug Into The Sun has arranged for a large LED visual display in the main entrance lobby. This displays instantaneous readings of how many kilowatts of energy are being produced along with arunning total and the amount of CO2 saved.
