We wanted to know a bit more about our customers experiences and so we asked a few for their feedback. We hope that this is helpful to people who are considering installing solar PV.

If you have any other questions, or are a customer who would like to let others know about their install, then please contact us: info@plugintothesun.co.uk

David Raymer - Hayle Day care centre Trust

The centre had a 4kWp system installed and receive the 45p/kWh tariff. David also installed a 2.3kWp system on his own house at the same time.

David said: "Why did we go with solar power? There was no other option with the building we have. A wind turbine would not get past planners and a heat pump would not be feasible .

We looked at the option of renting the roof out to a national company but having read a contract that was provided it was not for us and giving someone else the FIT just sounded daft!

Andrew Tanner (Plug into the Sun MD) had come to Hayle Rotary and did a presentation which I took on board and as I knew the family, mother and daughter as well as Andrew it was a no brainer and the company was Cornish and local. So I first had a system attached to my house over a year ago last Jan, my partner Eve Ellen had one for her house Autumn 2011 and then I got a quote from you for the centre . Passing the information to a third individual Brian Capper who had one installed in Angarrack.

I would advise anyone not to go down the road of renting your roof out to a third party if there was any way that you could raise the finance for the installation. It is better than any ISA even with the reduced tariff. The centre and people I have mentioned are on the 45 p per kWh. It made me £45 tax free last week with 100 kWh generated on my small system .

Anyone in a public building like ours, even a charity,  needs to indicate that they are a community centre, play group or other within the rules of the planners . We had a problem with Cornwall planners and it cost us a full planning application . If we had called ourselves a community centre or a play group we would not have paid anything . We were too honest calling the application for the Hayle Day Care Centre which was outside the criteria , almost 3 months + generated income. Check first. The library next door had a massive commercial installation with no planning needed.

I am very pleased that I went ahead, I am only sorry that I did not go for the full 4 kWh but at that time the cost was higher than I was prepared to pay out. I should have gone with the greater and not the 2.3 kWh system that I finally had .

The day centre has only been running since December but we are getting a return and with the interest free loan we were able to secure means that we hope to get a return of a £1000 for the centre after the loan proportion has been paid back . It all depends on the SUN !!!"

In a survey Plug into the Sun found that 95% of customers would recommend us to a friend.

This is what some more of our customers said about us:

"From the outset I found all the staff at Plug into the Sun to be very friendly and helpful, providing all the advice and information we needed to access an LCBP-2 grant readily and proficiently.

The installation from scaffolding to final electrical connection was approached both professionally and efficiently with all the material we needed to comply with our project management and Health and Safety procedures provided and complied with without question.

There was constant liaison between their staff and the school resulting in an installation that had absolute minimal disruption to the school day and with the help of some fine weather was completed two days earlier than expected; who would have thought they would provide the sunshine as well?

I would recommend Plug into the Sun without hesitation." Ian Batty, Site Manager, Wadebridge Community Primary Schoo
